In my twenties, I used to go nearly once a month to a meeting halfway around the world in Glasgow Scotland; the trip took 15 hours one way. I was greatly impressed by the energy and expectations of, not only the client who had commissioned a design from an architect in distant Japan, but the mayor, and the entire community. In working as an architect in society, I hope to never forget the motivation and thrill I felt at that time.
